Creole in the San Juans - The Cliffs
2017
Louisiana based clients were looking to create a vacation home in SW Colorado that reflected the local mountain context and yet had roots in a traditional southern architectural style. Multiple smaller structures, including a “bunkhouse” for family and guests, create a compound feel. Broad porches with french doors and transoms flank the great room, allowing for passive air cooling. Reclaimed heart pine flooring (sourced from their home state), whitewashed interior paneling and rough sawn rafters and ceiling boards all support a “homestead” charm.
